Mountain range Ak Shirak and Pik Karakolsky After the last change of plan, another change came up. The same reason as the last time (unrideable road) didn’t allow guys to continue to the mountain range Ak Shirak. They had to turn back by the gold mine. We all hope, that by the old mine they were thinking of us and will bring us something :-) Of course boys are not giving up and they managed to find the way to iceberg through Karakolska valley with 50kg backpacks. In a nice weather they managed to ascend to base camp (3650mnm) under the Pik Karakolsky. Unfortunately the weather change marred up the ascent higher. Already a second day are waiting for a better weather in the base camp, but snowing has no end. Weather forecast looks promising for the next 2 days, but after that again sleets and snowing are expected. Since there is such amount of snow, they are spending time with building igloo and planning for the next day’s… Posted at: 25.5.2009 |
